Makes Four.

I'm so glad that so many of you have been able to check in and see the news about the arrival of our little boy. Well, here are some pictures I hope all of you will enjoy. We named him Spencer because we like that name. We also gave him a formal first name after my dad William Patterson Mammen and his middle name is from Richard Ballantyne who is Laura's first American and first Mormon ancestor.

The last 24 hours have been going well. Spencer seems to be enjoying his new found freedom and is taking advantage of it by sleeping as much as possible. As you can guess from his size he is very strong, and all the nurses who have played with him have commented on his kicks. (Laura's known about those for months.) Mom is recovering well. She got a pretty good nights sleep last night because Spencer took awhile to clear out his digestive tract so he really wasn't too interested in eating until this morning. That meant that he stayed in the nursery pretty much the whole night and behaved so well the nurses were sorry to see him go when I picked him up this morning.

As you can see Janelle can by for a visit with all the Platts. She is very excited, and very happy that we now have a baby at our house like some of our friends do. We'll see how her opinion changes over the next few weeks. We bought the letter blocks for Janelle to play with in case she got tired of the baby, but it turned out that she was more interested in the doctor's stool, which left the blocks available for me to do some creative thing with.
