The Little Mammen Family

Here's the first entry of our trip to Newport Beach, California. We had a FABULOUS time spending time with the Mammen family. These pictures are from the day we had our picture taken at the beach. It's amazing we got so many good ones with 5 children ages 3 1/2 and younger to work with!

Some of the highlights of the trip:

A day in Los Angeles: Seeing where Kyle's older brother Taylor and his family live, having lunch at the Century City Mall (and checking out the amazing family room complete with toys, miniature toilets, curtained nursing rooms, free pacifiers and rattles), a stop at the L.A. temple where Kyle's parents were married, visiting Grauman's Chinese Theater, driving through the ritzy Beverly Hills, and of course experiencing REAL rush hour traffic (you ain't seen nothin' until you've driven through L.A. during rush hour!)

Newport Beach: Watching Kyle and my brother-in-law, Brad, crashing the huge waves at the beach in 65 degree water, playing with Janelle and cousin, Ayden in the sand, walking down the pier to Ruby's to get milkshakes, the lovely view, and just chillin' in the sun and getting a great sunburn!

A night on the town with all of Kyle's siblings and spouses at a mexican restaurant and then hearing the brave grandparents tell their story of their night babysitting 5 grandkids.

Visiting a Newport Beach ward and meeting one of my brother's mission companion's family (what a small world it is!), and then walking across the street to the Newport temple. The Temple is one of the smaller ones, but it was beautiful!

An extended family Sunday dinner with an Aunt, Uncles, Cousins, and a Grandpa, complete with roasting marshmallows on the beach at the end of the evening.

Disneyland!

San Diego: Seeing the Harbor Seals, visiting where Kyle's sister and her family live temporarily, tasting my first In 'n Out burger, and catching a glimpse of the San Diego temple.

...more pictures coming soon!

Laura,
Looks like you had a blast. Isn't Grauman's awesome! And I am so sorry you had to get stuck in real LA traffic... ( we were stuck for 4 hours once...) What a fun trip, can't wait to see more pictures!

Holy Cow, Taylor's baby is so cute! I think Kyle is going to look exactly like his dad when he's a grandpa. Sounds like a fun (and exhausting) trip!

I am sooo impressed that you already got around to doing a blog. I might just have to copy yours and change a few words for mine. I have 500 pictures to choose from and too many stories to even know where to begin!
