Top Five Reasons You DON'T Take 3 kids under the age of 4 to the Grocery Store:
#5: It will be more crowded than it should be at an off hour of the day.
#4: Your 5-month-old will drop the only binkie you brought onto the dirty-germ-infested floor and then start crying because you won't give it back to him.
#3: The 3-year-old that is with you will wander into the produce section and start whining that he's hungry.
#2: Your insurance doesn't cover the injuries your 4-year-old induces on the other shoppers from ramming them with her kid-size grocery cart.
#1: You get so flustered with the whole situation that you order your daughter a whole sheet cake for her birthday to feed 4 adults and 3 children instead of the quarter-sized one you meant to get.

That's right. It was my first time attempting a store with three kids (I had to watch my nephew that day, so I had an extra one.) And I ordered a whole SHEET cake for the teeny tiny little family birthday party we had this year. We could have fed probably 60 people with it! I had Kyle pick it up after work, and he calls me from the store,
"Ummm...Laura? Did you know you ordered a full sheet cake?"
I'm still trying to recall what was going on in my head when I ordered it, but I think I was thinking something along the lines that a sheet cake meant 9x13". Who knows what I was really thinking, let's just say, no more trips to the grocery store with no more than 2 kids! For my sanity's sake I might wait until I can go without any kids next time.
I still can't believe I did that and I've had four hours to soak in the shock! Oh well, now we've got enough cake for Spencer's birthday, my birthday, and Kyle's birthdays next year. Hope Spencer and Kyle don't mind "My Little Pony!"
Happy Birthday Janelle! Sorry, no more cakes that big 'til you get MARRIED!
Here's all the leftovers we had:
1 almost 9x13" piece on the platter to celebrate with Grandma and Grandpa Platt and family tomorrow3 good sized pieces in the freezer bags
5 slices on the little plates to take to Janelle's preschool tomorrow
and 1 slice left for Kyle to take to work in the morning

Hahahaha, so funny!!
Oh dear Laura! Good thing you have a lot of places to share it with! I took my three kids to the carters outlet yesterday and Cameron almost got ran over, it was freezing cold and the boys were arguing over the lego table. It could've been worse I guess!
That's pretty funny! At least you got too much of something that's so yummy! Sounds like you still have new mommy/pregnant brain :) The 3 kids thing doesn't help either!
Oh - this gave me a good laugh. At least the cake was yummy and you can bring it out for treats from the freezer for the next few months.
What a great a story! Thanks for the laughs.
