The Lewis-Loria-Mammen-Preator Preschool MunchkinsCan't say that I know too much about the McKinney Fire Station #5...Spencer has been sick since Sunday with a yucky cold, so my good friend Emily was kind enough to take Janelle to the fire station for me. Quite honestly, I think I was more excited about the field trip than Janelle was, so I was bummed I couldn't go. Emily said the kids were all very well behaved and seemed to enjoy the tour despite their sudden onset shyness. Janelle wore her little red fire hat all day! She came home being very adamant that even though there weren't any GIRL fire fighters there today, that there still ARE girl fire fighters. I assured her she was right. I'm planning this again for next year so I can go!

Laura,
It was so funny because our tour guide (Fireman Quincy) made it a big deal to point out to Janelle that there were girl fire fighters, and that in fact, one of the fire cheifs at #5 is a woman. Janelle was quietly pleased. On the way out, Quincy said "So maybe someday you can be a fire fighter Janelle." But alas, not even a peep of a reply was spoken. All the kids were tongue tied whenever a fire man was present. It was so hilarious, I was constantly talking, and we all know how old that gets! "Say Thank you, kids. Wow, that's neat, isn't that neat kids? What a shiny fire truck, isn't that such a shiny fire truck kids?" sometimes, not even a nod of approval!! I was the translator for our nice mute children.
What a fun field trip for the kids, and parents too! Sorry you missed it. How funny Janelle needed to make it known about there being girl fire fighters too - it's very important!
P.S. How do you get that effect on your pictures? Is it a Photoshop thing? I like it a lot!
Brianne-
I actually copied these pictures straight from my friend, Emily's blog, she always makes her pictures so cute. She told me that she has the creative keepsakes digital scrapbooking program...at least I'm pretty sure that's what she said it was called. I can ask her for sure what it is. But I think any digital photo editing program does those kinds of things.
