I finally have it, the perfect calling: Yesterday 3 minutes before church started I was asked to be the primary pianist. I can't tell you how excited I really am about this calling. I admit, I'm not the world's best pianist, but most primary songs are fairly easy and it will be nice to actually have an excuse to practice the piano (something I rarely do anymore).
Lately church has been...to say the least...a little chaotic. Spencer will not sit through Sacrament Meeting much less any other meetings, so it's been a little hard for me to get much out of church. Usually Kyle or I spend the majority of Sacrament Meeting and Sunday School in the hall with our little munchkin who simply cannot get the wiggles out of him. And I usually have to take him for the 3rd hour because Kyle is in with the Young Men. I'm not quite sure how things will work out for the next 4 months since Spencer is not of nursery age yet, but somehow it will. Yesterday my sweet friend Ashley volunteered to take him the third hour and sit with him in nursery. (Thank you a million times over, Ash!)
Anyway, I was immediately put to work playing the piano in primary since the former pianist is now a BYU freshman. I actually really enjoyed being in there. The kids have been practicing for their fall program and are doing really well. It was the first time in months that I was able to feel the spirit in a church meeting listening to such sweet angelic voices. What an amazing experience listening to those young kids singing of Christ and their faith. I could almost see a little congregation of missionaries out there. What testimony builders. I loved it!
...and that is why I have the best calling I have ever had in my entire life!

You're so cute! Ask my SIL and she will tell you the opposite (but she has been in primary for like 10 years!). Why can't Kyle take Spencer to YMs? That's what Shane did with Kathryn because I was the primary pianist back then. She was great there because she had freedom to walk around and talk to everyone. Maybe Spencer wouldn't let Kyle stay in there though. Anyway, congrats! I would LOVE that calling right about now.
Princess, you are SO lucky! Primary pianist is my dream calling because it's all of the fun and none of the work! My new calling is RS chorister which is also a pretty low maintenance calling, but not as fun as being with all those kids.
Sarah-
Kyle can take him sometimes when he's not teaching, but they meet in the Bishop's office - a very tiny room with not much walking space. However, he usually ends up in the hall with him. Spencer is one REALLY active kid - he just can't sit still!
That has been my favorite calling ever!
G, I am the RS Chorister, too! I got called on my first Sunday here....should be fun.
I totally agree with you! I love being with the primary kids (but NOT having to teach them). They're so funny and sweet. I got to sub for our primary pianist a couple weeks ago and it made me want that calling again. Although it can get tricky with a nursing baby. Anyway, congrats!
Laura, I knew you would love it! I am so excited you are in there with us! WELCOME SIS. MAMMEN!!
I know that you still want to switch with me, because mine is the best calling in the church!!! I'm so kidding---help, get me outta there!!
Congratulations on your new calling I was happy to take Spencer to nursery. I was bored. That can be my new thing on Sundays. Since primary took all my friends away.
I absolutely agree with you. I always tell everyone that my favorite calling is primary pianist. Maybe if you're lucky--you'll get a couple of kids to sneak back and say hello.
