Between Conference sessions last Sunday, my Mom's side of the family got together and we had an "Iron Chef" luncheon. For those of you who don't watch the Food Network, "Iron Chef" is a cooking show where two chefs compete against one another having to come up with 5 dishes each containing the secret ingredient that is revealed right before the contest begins. The secret ingredient can be anything...fish, peas, cheese, etc. So I thought it would be fun to try an"Iron Chef" themed dinner. Obviously we didn't time the actual cooking of the food, but everyone was assigned to bring something with the secret ingredient:apples!
(how appropriate for fall, right?)
It turned out being one of the tastiest meals I've ever had! Here's what was on le menu:
Apple Cider Marinated Pork Ribs (made by Kyle)
Sausage Applesauce Bake (made by my little sister, Erin)
Apple Marinated Pork Roast (made by my Aunt Diane)
Fruit Salsa with Toasted Cinnamon Tortilla "Chips" (made by my Mom)
Chicken Pasta Salad (made by my Grandma)
Broccoli Apple Salad (made by my Aunt Terry)
Whole Wheat Bread (made by Aunt Diane)
Apple Pie (my contribution)
Apple Cake (also made by Aunt Terry)
It was such a success! Everything was so yummy I ate until I was sick! I will try and post a few of the recipes on E's Recipe Corner.

Yummy! Sounds like you had a lot of fun and good eats! I can't wait to try some.
that is such a fun idea! I used apples in a chicken salad today and I think I want to use apples in my dinner tonight. I am in such an apple mood!
