Back to Normalville

While we miss the WARM weather and beautiful beaches in Hawaii, we're all happy to be back home. (It was 32 degrees yesterday!) The kids are having a hard time returning to central time. Even though we've been putting them down at their normal bedtimes (6:30 for Spencer and 7:00 for Janelle), neither of them fall asleep until 10 or 11:00pm. It's a pain in the neck because Janelle gets out of her bed a million times and Spencer just screams. The nice thing is that they have been sleeping in until 9:45 every morning! That makes a really nice morning for mommy! It's definitely not worth the night fuss though. Hopefully by next week they'll be back on schedule. Spencer's had a few firsts this week:

First Taste of Pudding
Spencer was happy to be home and try pudding for the first time. The bad thing about your second child is that by the time they're 18 months old they catch on to the concept of fairness. Whatever Janelle has, Spencer wants. Normally I would just give him sweet potatoes or applesauce or crackers for a snack. But when I let Janelle have pudding for snack, Spencer was right there saying, "Pease, me, me, pease!" How can a mom resist such a polite request?
It was worth all that sugar!

First Waterslide Accident
(Hopefully no more of these!)
"Owie, owie, owie!"
Nope this isn't from a cat fight.
Because of the frigid temperature yesterday we took the kids to the indoor pool last night in order to get them really tired so they would go to bed. (Yes, swimming made them nice and tired, but no, they didn't go to bed any earlier.) Spencer is a major daredevil in the pool. You really have to watch this kid in the water! They have a slide for little kids which Spencer absolutely loved. Unfortunately one of the times he climbed up, he ended falling backwards instead of sliding forwards and got these nice scratches on his back. I sat on the side of the pool with him for about a total of 1 minute before he wanted to get back in and go down the slide again. I couldn't believe it, he's such a boy!

First Car Chase
Last night after an hour and a half of the screaming and Spence not going to sleep, I couldn't handle it any longer. I finally got him out of bed (I know, I know) and we laid in our bed and watched part of "Rush Hour 3" with Daddy. When the car chase came on, Spencer was enthralled. Seriously, he couldn't take his eyes off of the tv. It was hilarious! He kept saying, "Uh oh" and "Vroom" throughout the whole thing. I was more interested in watching Spencer than the car chase, it was so funny!

..............................................

In other news, Santa brought the kids a slide for Christmas, so we've been doing LOTS of sliding. The plan was to put the slide in the backyard, but it's been way too cold for that, so it's in the playroom for now. It's actually kind of nice having it indoors for the kids to release a little energy when you can't go outside.
Look at these snugglebugs! Yesterday I was helping Kyle with something and turned on an iPhoto slide show of our Hawaii pictures for the kids on our computer. It was better than tv!

We just got back on schedule today and that took a good week and a half. At least a week of which I was staying up and playing with Andrew from 2am - 6 am. So, good luck. I think with persistance jet lag just finally goes away.
