Janelle's Art Gallery

Poor Janelle Belle woke up with a fever and a cough,
so no preschool for her today.
She was absolutely devastated about missing it because the theme of the week was
art
and they were supposed to have an
art gallery
today for all the moms. (I work with the BEST moms in our co-op!)
I felt bad for her.
When I called her teacher to tell her that Janelle wouldn't make it today, I asked her if I could come pick up what they were supposed to do for the day. (Thanks Chris!) So this afternoon, Janelle completed her art projects for her art gallery. And I told her that we could set it all up for when Daddy came home.
She was so excited!
After dinner and after we'd put Spencer to bed, Janelle and I set up her
"Gallery."
She was already in her pajamas and all ready for bed, when she decided that she wasn't dressed for the occasion. So she ran to her room and picked out a dress and some fancy shoes (her favorite plastic "Sleeping Beauty" dress up shoes). She'd been asking for days to wear makeup, so I indulged and put some blush, eye shadow, and lip gloss on her and then we did her hair. It was so cute seeing how excited she was for it! When everything was ready, she ran to invite Daddy to her
"Art Show,"
as she called it.
Here's the blog version of

Janelle's Art Gallery.

Music-Inspired Art
Glenn Miller's "Let's Dance"
"This is me and my friends going surfing, dancing, and to the art show."

"Hot Butter" Song
"This is me going swimming."

Handel's "Messiah" - "Hallelujah Chorus"
"This song makes me happy, this is me holding hands with my friend."
Ceramic Painting
Primitive Art - Cave Painting
"This is two horses and some grass and a fire."
Janelle's Photography

Metal (Foil) Carving
"This is a horse with a mane and a tail and she's my friend."

Mosaic

I think it's safe to say we have an artist on our hands.

Josh was sad that Janelle was not in preschool yesterday, but it looks like her art show turned out great! I love that she painted her pasta!

That is great that she got to put on her art show for her dad. I can just imagine how excited she was. That is a good idea for preschool. Maybe we will have to incorporate something like that.
I hope Janelle feels better! Alex is sick this morning with the same thing.

Laura, I just loved this blog. What a wonderful solution to a potentially terrible day. Janelle still got to do and display her very impressive art projects and then have a gallery for dad. And Janelle IS so talented. I love the art to Handels's Messiah and the cave painting is really good. But it's such a good idea to do all the different mediums of art. So great!!
