Spence's Big Boy Birthday Bash

Spencer had a great second birthday!

About a week ago Kyle started showing those little "Wall-E" movie shorts on the internet to Spencer. He loves them...especially the one with the balls. So we figured we'd attempt to take him to the movie on Friday. He loved it...for a total of 35 minutes. After that, he was done! (I think we'll stick to movie trailer shorts for a little while longer.) Oh well, we all still had a fun time!

...Even Janelle who spilled root beer ALL down her shirt and skirt. (She was literally soaked!)
Today, Spencer started his partying in nursery where they had those disgusting flavored marshmallows (which Spencer loves) for snack and then got a special phone call from Grandma and Grandpa.

When we got home from church he opened presents and was thrilled to find the "Shake and Race Lightning McQueen." We already have Mater, so Mater and Lightning were racing all over the house for the rest of the day.

"Spencer go give Gigi a hug!"

After opening presents while Mommy and Daddy weren't looking Spencer thought that his orange juice from breakfast would be a good substitute for water in his new water table from Grandma and Grandpa M. I didn't realize it until he brought me his empty cup and said, "More juice Mommy?" I just thought he wanted it to drink! After Kyle caught his real motive, I took the cup immediately away and said, "Spencer, no juice in your toys, just WATER."

"Otay Mommy."

We rushed the table outside to hose it off, and then he and Janelle had a great time splashing around until they grudgingly came in to have lunch. Both kids immediately headed back outside after nap time

Thank you Grandma and Grandpa!!!

After nap time we headed over to Grandma and Grandpa P.'s house for the birthday bash.

Talk about birthday bashing...Spencer had 28 guests at his party! 26 of those were family, plus 2 sister missionaries!

We sure love to party.

When Kyle was on High Adventure with the Young Men a few weeks ago he made homemade corn dogs in the turkey frier. All the guys came home raving about them, and within a week people from other wards were asking him about them! So he agreed to make them again for Spencer's birthday. They were AMAZING. Seriously, I don't even like corn dogs...or hot dogs for that matter, but they turned out incredibly good. We'll be raving about those for a long time! Thanks honey for enduring the heat and cookin' all those dogs!

Spencer wouldn't touch the corn dogs, but he was in heaven sitting right in front of the french fries in his birthday suit!
It's only your birthday once a year, right?

Immediately after dinner, Spencer was VERY ready for cake. He kept scooting bar stools and a step stool over to the high counter where I left it while we were eating dinner. So finally we gave in, even though we weren't all done eating yet. Again, it was his birthday!

The cake:

Blowing out his two candles...with a little help from Auntie Diane (who's technically his great aunt).

"Mmmmmmmm....cake!"

"Okay, fine I'll interrupt my cake eating and give the paparazzi a smile. Cheeeeeeese!"
I didn't have enough cake for 28 people, so I made a batch of cupcakes for the younger kids and then left them plain so they could decorate them with frosting, M&Ms, marshmallows, sprinkles, red hots, and crushed oreos. Needless to say, they were a hit.
After dinner and cake lucky Spence got to open even more presents!
He scored all sorts of good stuff...books, a toy camera phone, a "Thomas" pillow and book, a fire truck that you can build legos on, some BYU attire, and truck stickers. Thank you everyone!

And then he raced his "Cars" on the fan.

It was the perfect way to start his first day being two!

I don't think a two year old could ask for a better birthday! It looked like fun, I just wish we could have been there to spend it with him. It has been too long since we have seen you guys. I tried calling, you probably got the message. Something will be coming for Spence in the mail shortly, I am sure he will appreciate that more then a phone call anyway.

That last pic of Spencer in his diaper and socks is my FAVORITE. The corndogs, the cake, the party, the company--all fab!

Wow, what day! Super cute cake too. We have McQueen, Mater, and Ramone races at our house all the time...
"Speed, I am Speed"... "That was Fu-uh-un!"... "Low and Slow."
It never gets old, for them anyway. Happy birthday, Spencer!

What a great 2nd Birthday! Now I have a craving for corn dogs. Don't you just love little boys and the spirit they bring? I love my little guy so much and can't wait to have more. I know what you mean by 'where did the time go?' I also liked the donut/candle cake. Cute idea!
