A few Saturdays ago we spent a couple of hours at the school park teaching Janelle to ride her bike. The first hour was LONG and tiresome (not to mention back-breaking). She totally freaked out the second we took our hands off of her bike and then would automatically fall. But finally, the second hour it finally clicked. Woohoo! Good thing too because on the ride over to the park from our house her training wheels broke!

Yea!!!

In the meantime, Spencer cruised around on his bike wondering what all the fuss was about.
When we were all exhausted from bike riding/bike chasing/bike cheerleading we had a picnic and then played at the park.
As my kids were playing at the park I was reminiscing over previous park adventures...like when Janelle was little and I had to spend hours pushing her on the swings because it was her favorite thing to do at the park.

The day that Janelle figured it out herself (about a year ago) was a glorious day! Now she goes high as the sky!
...or when Spencer spent most of his park days in his stroller...

Now look at him, he's a regular ol' monkey!
Once upon a time Spencer would actually climb all the way up this ladder.

We've known from pretty early on that Spencer has a fear of heights. He'd always freak out when Kyle would toss him up in the air as a baby or try to balance him standing in Kyle's hand. But over the last six months this fear has escalated. All the sudden he gets VERY wary the higher up he gets. Now whenever we go to the school park he gets stuck on this rung - EVERY SINGLE TIME. He refuses to take just that one last step and panics until someone comes to rescue him. Silly kid.
When did my baby get big enough for the big kid swings?

While we were at the school the city decided to test the tornado sirens. One of them is actually at the school. Needless to say it was VERY loud. Here's Spencer a little worried...

...and here's Spencer freaking out.

After that he was done being on the swings by himself. That's okay, Spence, you can stay my baby as long as you want!
Here's the grand bike riding finale!
