Yesterday I finally got to go running. Things have been so crazy this last week that it's been really hard to fit it in. I was starting to feel pretty stressed out about a few things so Kyle kicked me out the door and around the neighborhood I went.
As I was running, an epiphany struck me, I have finally, after a year and a half, gotten to the point that I don't hate running. I actually like it! I no longer dwell on how hard it is with every single step I take but actually take the time to reflect on things. It is SO NICE! It's one of the best changes in my life I could have made.
So yesterday during my running trek I was reflecting on all the things that I was grateful for. It definitely put me in the Thanksgiving spirit. So tonight, here are a few things I am thankful for:

I am especially grateful for my husband. Every day he does everything in his power to make me happy, even if I don't deserve it. :) He's an amazing husband, an amazing daddy, a hard worker, a genius, the best cook, and my best friend.
*
Yesterday morning I was also grateful that he makes us waffles in very large batches so that we can freeze them and eat them whenever we want! We have the best Saturday breakfasts!

I am thankful for straight painted edges in my kitchen. We painted our kitchen this color red like two years ago and I didn't get around to finishing the edges until just yesterday. Every day for two years I would look up here and think, "I need to finish that darn edging!" So yesterday I did, and I LOVE that it's done!

I am SO SO thankful for Janelle. She is the sweetest little girl. Yesterday while I was painting, Kyle was finishing a project up in the playroom and Spencer was getting underfoot. I told Janelle that if she would "babysit" Spencer for the next hour and a half that I would pay her $3. So she took him into her room and kept him entertained until Kyle and I were done with our projects. I couldn't believe it! She's getting so grown up!

Because Kyle and I were so busy yesterday, we accidentally let Spencer sleep a little too long during nap time. He was definitely not ready to go to bed at 7 like usual. After listening to him sing and play in the dark for half an hour, I decided to go in and read him one more book. He was so happy to see me and especially happy to have that extra book read, it made me especially thankful for my sweet little boy.

I'm thankful I was able to take that run yesterday. I'm thankful that I have a body that lets me run, I'm thankful for my husband who pushed me out the door, I'm thankful it was so cold outside yesterday morning I had to wait until noon to go out, I'm thankful that a new road opened that I could check out, I'm thankful for my run that put me in the Thanksgiving spirit!
Happy 12 days until Thanksgiving!

Run, Forrest, run! I took a looong nap this afternoon so there's no telling if/when I'll get to sleep tonight. Hmmm...let's make a list.
When I first started running regularly (my frosh. year of HS when my sister convinced me to join cross country), I couldn't even finish a mile without hyperventilating. I didn't start enjoying running until my Jr. year! I didn't run regularly on my own outside of practice until my Sophomore year of college. It's definitely an acquire thing, so good job for staying with it! Good job Kyle for supporting her! And making waffles. It's so nice to think thankfully.
Now you have me in the Thanksgiving spirit! Thank you Laura!
Great post, It reminded me of my goal to do a "thankful" post weekly. I haven't done one yet but maybe this will give the the jump start I need.
oh goody, i'll have to make my own thankful list-
1st entry-thanks to laura for getting my butt in the thanksgiving mood! :)
I am glad you fianlly converted to the running spirit. I knew you could do it!
