Over a month ago we got a flier in the mail about The Littlest Pet Shop parade Wal-Mart was having the Saturday before Valentine's Day for the unveiling of the new pets. Janelle and all her friends LOVE Littlest Pet Shop, so she took the treasured flier, pinned it on her bulletin board and then marked the date on her calendar with "Litlest Pet Shop Prade." (It was pretty cute if I do say so myself!) She'd also take the flier down every night before bed, look at it, and say, "Don't forget about the parade, Mom!" Or "How many days until the parade?" Or "I can't WAIT for the parade!" Yeah, she did that almost every night for like a month. The day of the parade arrived and I have to admit, I ALMOST forgot! Fortunately, I happened to glance at Janelle's calendar when she was cleaning her room and then raced to the computer to check the time. It was a crazy morning, and I wasn't nearly as excited about having to go to Wal-Mart on a Saturday as Janelle was, especially since I had to take all three kids by myself. BUT I put a smile on my face and tried to show a little enthusiasm. :) Spencer wasn't exactly thrilled about going either, but he was a good sport.

We get to insanely-crowded Wal-Mart and find The Littlest Pet Shop booth. A lady handed Janelle and Spencer little bags filled with a poster and stickers and a little flag to wave around the store. Spencer totally cracked me up, he took one look at the bag and gave me this look like, "What the heck am I supposed to do with this?" He did end up liking the flag though. I told him he could just walk by me if he wanted, which he did at first, but braved up halfway through the store and joined Janelle. We made the rounds around the store, slowing down in the Littlest Pet Shop aisle of course so we could ooooh and aaaah over the coveted inch and a half high plastic pets. Some parents had huge playhouses and a dozen pets in their carts, I couldn't believe it! They weren't even on sale! I let Janelle pick out one pet that had to be less than $5 and then told her she had to wait until the next day (Valentine's Day) to get it. (I know, pure torture!) At the end the kids had their picture taken in front of a Littlest Pet Shop Land backdrop.

Spencer caught me by surprise as I was taking Janelle's picture by telling me he wanted his picture taken too. So here he is...
I'm SO glad we didn't miss it because Janelle was beaming the whole time. Totally worth it!

Oh, the things children cherish. I'm sure Janelle was over the moon. And Spencer's look is hilarious. What a good sport, Mom. ;o)
Wow, that's kind of cool, even if it was crazy. Kathryn would have LOVED that! She is obsessed with LPS!
