La De Da

I know, I know...it's been way too long as some have started to point out. Let's just say I'm still trying to figure out life with 4 kids. Any extra time I have lately is spent sleeping. :) Here's what we've been up to:

Evelyn - Loves, loves, LOVES to be held. She would be one happy baby if I would hold her all day long. Fortunately she has a Grandma, Grandpa, Aunts and an Uncle that are more than happy to help keep her happy all day long. She's a sweet little thing and we all love her to pieces.

Ally - Oh my, Ally. They asked me at her 2-year-old check up if she knew at least 20 words and all I could do was laugh. She probably knows 200 words. She talks all day long and repeats everything you say to her. She is by far my spunkiest kiddo. She knows what she wants and has the charm and will power to get it. She loves to be around the big kids, I even catch her bossing them around from time to time. She definitely knows how to keep my days interesting!

Spencer - Is doing GREAT in kindergarten. It's a super long day for him and he comes home exhausted, but he LOVES it. I had to keep him home one day a few weeks ago because his allergies were so bad and he was so upset! He cried, "But MOM, I have to learn!" Needless to say, we did some learning at home that day. :) I miss having him around during the day.

Janelle - Is my dream child. Yes, she has her moments, but for the most part, she is extremely well behaved. She helps me a ton with Ally and Evelyn. She's excelling at school. She's a social butterfly. She's an absolute joy to have around and I'm so glad that I'm her mom. She recently read the first Harry Potter book and is well into the second now. She LOVES to read. I met with her teacher two weeks ago and she said she's reading at a 5th grade reading level and is about at a 4th grade math level. I'm going to an awards assembly on Friday where she's being awarded for all A's for the first 9 weeks. She loves going to gymnastics and is becoming quite the little pianist.

Me - As I said before, I'm just trying to keep 4 kids in line. Mornings run fairly smoothly. I get Janelle and Spencer off on the bus before Ally and Evelyn even wake up. If I'm feeling ambitious I'll exercise in that half hour before the girls wake up, but sometimes I just go back to bed and enjoy the peace and quiet. The days run pretty smoothly, it's pretty easy just having two around. And then 3:15 hits. Dum, dum, DUM. The hours between 3:30 to 6:30 are pure and utter chaos. We've got a routine going - snack, piano, homework, play or tv time, dinner, reading and bedtime. But with Ally running around who likes to "help" play the piano, scribble on homework, make messes, steal snacks, etc. and Evelyn who has started getting really fussy during that time of the day, it makes for a crazy afternoon. I tend to kick into survival mode during that part of the day. Stay-at-home moms seriously deserve more credit in their job description because it is a very demanding, emotionally and physically draining job!

Kyle - Is in his last semester of classes for his master's degree, yea!!! Starting in January and then through August he'll be interning most likely with LDS Social Services. This semester we only see him Monday nights and then on the weekends. But starting next semester it's going to be worse because he'll probably be gone most nights of the week plus Saturdays. I'm trying to brace myself for that. I know it will all be worth it in the end, but some nights, it's pretty hard to make it to through bedtime alone. He's doing awesome in school. He's got a 4.0 and a huge asset to his program. His department recently picked him to do interviews with the accreditation committee (who keep UNT accredited). I'm so proud of him!

That's what we've been up to...life is crazy, but we wouldn't have it any other way!
