4 Month Checkup = Rice Cereal!
Thursday was Spencer's big check up day. The doctor was very impressed with his growth. My "little" boy is 17 lbs. and 27 inches long. His weight is in the 90th percentile, and his height is completely off the charts! So he seems to be in pretty good shape! He had to get 4 shots (better 4 than 5 like last time), but he only cried a short little while afterwards. So he was very good! Being 4 months the doctor gave the okay to start rice cereal and then gradually adding oatmeal and fruits and vegetables one week at a time. I originally wanted to wait until 5 months to start solid foods, but seeing how big this kid is, he definately needs it! He's been wanting to eat every 2 hours the last couple of days, and I can't say nursing every 2 hours is very exciting. So last night we tried the cereal for the first time. He seemed to do okay with it. He gave me a few funny faces, and wanted to suck his thumb the entire time, but he ended up eating all that I had made for him. Despite what a big baby he is, he sure looked small in his high chair! Where did the last 4 months go???

Wow, what a big healthy baby you are, Spencer! I think Avary was 27 inches when she was like over a year old. She also liked sucking her thumb while eating her baby food. She would chase every bite down with her thumb. One time, on a trip, I was sitting next to her car seat and feeding her. In her car seat she could reach her toes to her mouth so instead of her thumb, she chased every bite down with her big toe!
What a good eater! Briton just gags when I try rice cereal. I'm thinking about mixing it with Coke next time:)
How adorable!! What a cutie pie. Has he slept any better at night?
