Bike Rides

Lately we have been taking a LOT of walk/bike rides (I walk with Spencer and Janelle rides her bike). It's great because Janelle and Spencer both love it and it Janelle gets nice and tired, plus we can go farther on our walks because Janelle is on a bike!

For some reason bike riding did not click in Janelle's brain until she turned 4. Seriously, it's like the switch to ride a bike was turned on in her head on her 4th birthday. Before she was 4, she could not figure out the whole steering thing, and pedaling was simply "too hard mommy!" Fortunately she's figured it out and is a tricycle riding pro.

However Janelle is WAY too tall for that little tricycle. Kyle and I decided we'd get her a new bike this summer, but we didn't want to just give it to her. (The woes of having a December birthday!) So we told her that once she knew the whole alphabet (capital and lower case) and could tell us the sounds that all the letters make that we would take her to go get a new bike. She was very excited about that and has been working VERY hard on getting them all down! A few days ago she got all the way to letter Y just missing letters F and D (she ALWAYS seems to forget these two!). Kyle and I are so proud of her and can't wait to take her to get her bike.

Janelle is getting so big. She looks so tall on her tricycle. The weather looks nice and warm down there. It is still a bit chilly to take Austin out too much. I am hoping that it warms up soon. Jake loves to take walks.
