Last night we went over to my parents' house for Family Home Evening. My mom, her mom, and all of her sisters are in Hawaii for the week, so my dad, my uncle and his kids, and my grandpa are all wifeless until Saturday. My dad invited us over last night for his famous spaghetti and a little Family Home Evening lesson given by my grandpa. We had a nice time and enjoyed the FHE lesson on family history. My grandpa even came prepared with candy for those that answered questions correctly. Janelle is still extremely squirmy during FHE, and last night was no exception. She would listen for a couple of minutes and then go find a toy, then she'd listen a little more, and then play with Spencer, etc. Fortunately, she was being surprisingly quiet, so I didn't have to get after her hardly at all. On the drive home, Janelle goes, "Daddy, do you know what my favorite part of family night was?" Knowing Janelle pretty well, her favorite part probably was not the lesson, so Kyle guessed, "The candy?" "No, it was when I was pretending to be a mermaid."
I love the things my daughter gets out of family home evening!

I can't believe Kyle didn't guess being a mermaid!!! That's too funny. A girls only trip to Hawaii sounds awesome. You should've gotten in on that...no fair. Then you could come home and tell Janelle your favorite part of Hawaii was pretending to be a mermaid too!
This is so funny! I'm telling you, you could write a book with the stuff that comes out of Janelle's mouth.
Okay. That was funny!! I laughed out loud. Where does she come up with things like that?
You have mermaids in your family tree?! That's awesome! LOL!
I would love to sneak in their little heads and see what goes on in there. Where does it come from?
Whatever keeps them still! Maybe Ezra could pretend he's a mermaid this Sunday at church.
