You should have seen the other guy!

Just kidding! (No other people/babies were injured in this accident.)

This morning Spencer had his first trip to the ER. Poor kid! He tripped in Kyle's and my bedroom and hit his mouth on this small bookshelf we have. He cut his bottom lip up really badly on the inside of his mouth and also had a small cut on his upper labial frenum (you know the little thing that hangs down from your gums above your front top teeth). I thought for sure he was going to need stitches on his bottom lip because the cut looked pretty deep and it produced quite a bit of blood. However, the doctor said because babies heal so quickly he was just going to leave it. Had he been a little older they would have stitched it, but babies are very resilient. Some popsicles, ice water, and tylenol are supposed to do the trick. Fortunately his teeth are fine...just what I need another child with a dead tooth!

Amazingly we were in and out of the ER in 1 hour. I guess it was a slow Sunday. Quite honestly if it hadn't been Sunday I would have just taken him to his doctor, but since all doctors are closed on Sundays we didn't have much of a choice. Despite his screams all the nurses thought he was pretty cute and kept trying to get a smile out of him.

You can't really tell from these pictures, but Spencer also has a big ol' bruise across his cheek from hitting the shelf. He looks like he got into a fight! Poor kiddo!

Poor Spencer, Janelle looked distraught at Primary today, she told me a little about it and almost burst into tears! Poor thing!

Oh Spence. What a tough guy you are. I had a similar experience when I was about the same age (except I really did get stitches) and look how beautiful I turned out! No worries little guy.

Poor guy! Good thing babies are resilient. And kudos for the 1 hour ER visit, that's practically a record.

I don't know which is worse-needing to go the ER or the ER itself. I'm glad Spency's OK though. Janelle was a perfect angel this morning. I hadn't watched "Cinderella" in a long time. :o)

You can kinda see his bruise. Don't you just hate it when they hurt themselves. So sad.

I am glad Spencer is doing better! I am so happy his teeth weren't hurt. Emme bonked her mouth and she has one tooth that is yellowish/gray now, it stinks!

Poor Spencer! When Jake was about that age we had our first trip to the ER and our second a month later. Both cuts on his head. I think it is a boy thing!

Poor Spencer! He's every bit as cute with a puffy lip as without!
