We made it to the infamous Sanger Blackberry Farm today after reading Emily's and Sarah's blogs with my mouth watering. We all had a really fun time, and just might make this outing a Mammen family tradition!

Janelle was enthralled by all the butterflies. After Daddy showed her how to catch one she spent half her time picking berries and half her time chasing butterflies!

The contest was on: Who could find the biggest-juiciest blackberry???
Grandma was off to a good start!

Spencer was quite the trooper. He easily picked up the concept of pulling berries off the branches...
...and then shoving them in his mouth! (He was even good at finding the black ones!)
Although it sure is a lot easier just swiping blackberries from the half-filled buckets!
Yes, much more efficient this way!
Mmm...juicy!
I think our buckets are full to the brim!

I'm not sure what it is, but Spencer can always find the kitties. This one's name was Cinnamon, and we were careful NOT to let Spencer pull her tail!

Farmer Kessler took this picture himself. He was more than happy to let Spencer try out the tractor!

Our sweet one-year-old has been studying up on his "Dora The Explorer." He's got Swiper the Fox's moves down. He can swipe things from right under your nose if you're not careful! In this case he swiped Janelle's sunglasses and loved putting them on during our drive home!

How did we get so lucky? On the way home we came across a small little farmer's market and added fresh cucumbers, peaches, red onions, and zucchini to our plethora of produce. YUM!!!

So, I want to know. How do you catch a butterfly?
So glad you loved it! It is so much fun! Jeff wants to go this next week and get some more because ours are almost gone, you can't beat the price either!
I'm glad you went! I think we're going to make it a tradition as well! And Kathryn totally found that kitty and that's all she talked about on the way home! I want to go eat some berries now! (ps, we've made cobbler and blackberry sauce for waffles so far, what are you going to make??)
Jen - You cup your hands around one and then hold it by its wings. It's best to let it fly away because it could actually be a fairy!
Emily- I know, I wish we had gotten 2 buckets now too! They freeze so easily!
Sarah- That's so funny that Kathryn was so enthralled with the kitty too. :) Last night I made cobbler and then this morning we made Blackberry waffles. They were SOOO yummy! I think next I'm going to try syrup and of course fruit salad is a must around here.
Okay, now I really want to go too! So fun! Oh, and who has the best cobbler recipe? I totally think of cobbler when I think of blackberries.
