Tyler: "Knock-knock."
A chorus of, "Who's There?"
"Pirate."
"Pirate who?"
"Davy Jones."
Ha ha ha ha! None of their jokes ever make sense, but to them they are hilarious. Another joke continued about a sandwich and then one involving Ben's name, etc., etc.
Eventually they started fighting about who's turn it was to tell a joke, so I cut in and changed the conversation's direction, "Who has gotten to see Santa yet?" A very short-lived conversation about who's seen Santa and what they want for Christmas resumed, and then coming from little Sammy's (Samantha's) mouth, "Janelle, you are marrying Josh, right?"
Oh brother. Here we go.
Janelle: "Yeah, and you're marrying Jeffrey, right Sammy?"
Sammy: "Yeah."
Josh: "Hey Janelle, after we get married we can have a baby."
Janelle: "Uh huh, but you can't pick if it's a boy or a girl."
Josh: "Yeah, but I'm going to be the Daddy and you can be the Mommy."
Janelle (very enthusiastically): "Yeah! And the baby will be in my tummy because I'll be pregnant."
Me: Okay...who wants to tell more knock-knock jokes?"
A chorus of: "Me! Me! Me! It's my turn to go first, no mine. No MINE!"
She just turned FIVE, not 25!
I was definitely not ready for where this conversation could have headed!

HHHHAHAHAHAHAHA! LAURA! What is up with our children planning their futures at the age of 5. I am amused yet scared at the same time!! So glad you changed the subject, I would have done the same thing. Any Ideas of how to defuse this situation?! (I am STILL laughing.)
Emily- I was bursting with laughter!!! I was trying so hard not to let them see I was laughing at them, but horribly succeeding. They kept looking at me funny. I keep telling Janelle that maybe, just maybe there might be a different Prince Charming out there for her. But she's very adamant that Josh is the one for her. Oh well, he's my first pick for her right now too. :) I have no idea what to do about it, what silly kids we have!
...at least we know they're excited about having a family one day, right?
This is too cute! And who knows - maybe they're on to something. This could be a funny story to tell at their wedding.
Although I agree - 5 is a little to young to be tying yourself down.
You're right. Janelle and Isabella are so much a like b/c all she talks about is getting married and having babies although she hasn't settled on just one husband yet.
How funny! kids are super smart.
That is great. At least they understand that the baby comes after marriage. That is a great start. There conversation is better then the fact that Ayden thinks she is going to be a hard worker like daddy and not a mommy like me when she grows up.
That is soooo funny. I don't think my kids have ever said the word "pregnant". That's hilarious. I love rugrat talk.
