Culinary Master in the Making

Little Spencer has a lot to live up to having come from a long line of male Mammen chefs. At 18 months it was high time to get him started on the culinary basics.

Friday's lesson: Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies.

By the ripe old age 5 and years of experience, Janelle has become an oatmeal cookie expert, so she helped coach Spencer along during his rookie cookie lesson. He turned out to be a regular pro when it came to mixing the dry ingredients together, then adding them to the wet ingredients, taste testing the chocolate chips in order to make sure they were of the finest cocoa quality, and then of course licking his cookie dough spoon clean while mommy spooned the dough onto the cookie sheet. The hardest part of the lesson...
...was waiting for them to bake. But he never left the cookies' side peeking every few seconds into the lit oven. After a good 15 minutes, his hard work had paid off. Even Janelle agreed he'd passed the cookie test.Oila!Grandpa Mammen would be so proud!

Yes, Grandpa Mammen couldn't be any prouder! And I bet Spencer now has the cooking bug. He now knows that with a little care about what goes into the oven marvelous things can come out! Janelle already knows that cooking is almost like magic.
Love, Grandpa Bill
