Favorite

A bus is Spencer's absolute favorite thing in the whole world. The phrase "bus" can mean anything from a sedan to a van to a motorcycle to a semi. "Bus" gazing out the car window is an all time favorite past time. However, when he actually sees a real bus, he gets really excited, points out the window, and yells, "BUS!!!" So he does actually know what a real bus is.

Any guesses as to what Spencer's favorite song is? That's right, "The Wheels on the Bus." His favorite books? His three little board books about a bus. (One of them is shown in the above picture.) Every night right before Spencer goes to bed, we always read one book together and he always demands that we read the bus books. If anyone is interested, I could recite them to you. Sometimes I can talk him into reading, "Go Doggy" (Go Dog Go) or a book about another form of transportation (trains, trucks, cars), but most nights he insists on his bus books.

Other favorites: choo choo (trains), airpane (airplanes), tash (the trash man), and cars.

The funny thing about cars is that Spencer absolutely refuses to say the word "car." He will sign it, but he won't say it. I'll say, "Spencer, say car," and he'll get a sneaky look on his face and sign it. And then he just laughs when I repeat myself 3 more times. It's like a game that he knows he can say it, but just won't.

Oh the joys of boys!

It's so funny how they develop their preferences for things, and latch on to things they love. That's such a cute picture of him with the Bus book. Your story about him refusing to say the word car is so funny. Sam does the exact same thing, but with the word "Mommy". I've only been able to get him to say it a handful of times. The rest of the time, he reacts the same way you dscribed Spencer, only instead of signing Mommy, he'll say "Daddy".

That sounds just like my little boy. Right now he says apples for every fruit I give him. He also loves the Go Doggy book. We don't own it, but he always finds it at my friends house. The Easter Bunny might have to leave that book in his basket this year.
