It's not very often that we get an actual snow day. So when it does happen, it's a major ordeal...basically everything shuts down and nobody goes anywhere until the black ice clears up. Schools were delayed for a couple of hours today and Janelle's preschool was canceled. Usually she's devastated when she can't go to preschool, but this morning she cheerily told me, "Mom, it's okay that I don't have preschool today since there is snow to play in." I never would have believed you if you had told me I'd have to pull out the snow gear once we got home from Utah. We raced outdoors after the kids had had breakfast and played a good hour in the cold and then everything started melting. At least we got some playtime in! Spencer hated the snow in Utah during Christmas break, so I didn't think he'd last very long. But he seemed to understand that snow is a novelty at home and after wearily standing on the porch for a good five minutes watching Janelle, he slowly ventured out into the yard. Hooray for crazy snow storms in March!
Snow bums.
Despite the fact that they were getting their gloves soaking wet, playing in melted ice was almost like going to Disney World. They had WAY too much fun breaking the ice up and watching the ice cold water stream down the street.
Don't you love Spencer's gloves? Spencer originally started out with two pink gloves (the only ones I had!), but after soaking one of them, I found this blue one...but only one. So he played the rest of the time with mismatched gloves.
Thinking about venturing into our winter wonderland of a front yard...a slow smile creeping up on his face.
Snow Angels! Janelle made about 10 of these...in our yard, in our neighbors' yards...hope they didn't mind too much!
A walk...or rather a skate...down our icy sidewalk.
On our little walk, Spencer made it a point to plop down every 10 feet or so in the smooth snow with his little bum. It was hilarious!
Happy Snow Day!!!I'm totally bummed, because I dared Kyle last night to roll around in our backyard in the snow with just his bathing suit on, and he totally did it, but the video I took didn't work. Ergh! And he refused to do it a second time. Oh well. Here's the one picture I DID get. Crazy Kyle.

I still can't get over that it snowed last night! It looks like your kids had a great time playing in the snow this morning. Good thing we all enjoyed the snow this morning before it melted.

What a funny place for that video to end. I guess you were making an attempt to catch Spence! What a good mom. Kyle, I am proud to call you my brother. I'm assuming the kids were asleep? Way to keep the fire alive.
i love the snow bums-and i'm talking about the kids-not kyle!! spences' cheeks on his face are just so dang cute, i just want to squeeze them-all the time!
