Last night's Jane Austen Book Club book was Mansfield Park. I was a major slacker and didn't even finish the book, but that wasn't going to stop me from participating in the Regency Hair Contest!

I even walked down the street to my cousin and aunt's house, hair decked out and all with only a few questioning stares. Good thing I plastered my hair with hairspray so it wasn't too "melted" by the time I got there!

I googled "Regency Hair" and found a site called Jessamyn's Regency Costume Companion and instantly found my inspiration.

And here's what I came up with. I like to think of it as a "Lucy Steel" creation.

Looks like a blast! I love Jane Austen, although I tend to need an easy read stuck in now and then too! :)
Your hair looked awesome last night. It was a fun evening. Makes me want to start reading some of Jane Austen's books (after reading Breaking Dawn of course). :)
I looove that you did your homework! Great minds think alike. I Googled it too and found some awesome websites. Your hair rocked my face off. ;o)
looks GORGEOUS! did you do it all yourself? kyle didn't help get stuff looking good in the back?
i'm impressed?
sorry i missed it, have been SO busy!
and after tomorrow i'm taking a vacation-i don't know where yet, maybe just hiding out in my bedroom! :)
Kirstin- You'll have to come next time!!! Our next book is Emma. Interested?!?!
Melissa- I loved your hair too! I like that we both went with headbands. Great minds think alike, right?
Duchess- Your dark curls were gorgeous! Hey lets go find dresses and then we could make guest appearances on the next BBC productions. We'd fit right in!
Becki- Yes, you DO need a vacation! Just hearing about all your moving makes me tired! No, no help from Kyle...unless you count taking the picture of the side of my head as helping. But he and curling irons...or anything to do with girls hair for that matter do no mesh.
Very lovely.:) What a fun club. I haven't been checking anyone's blogs for awhile, but I just read your post about your triatholon. Congrats! It looked like so much fun!
How fun, and your hair looks so great!!! Loved it!
Laura, I'm so impressed!! You look like a character right out of a Jane Austin novel. I go on kicks where I have to watch all the movies a lot...usually around the holidays and during the long cold winters. I also love Little Women with Winona Ryder. I made Jenni & Hillary watch it with me all the time!
Love Kay
What a fun night! You look beautiful.
Egads! Laura, I thought you WERE the spitting image of a main character from a Austen novella. Why oh why did you not replicate this for Church today? I would have loved to sit behind you durring 3rd hour and just admire your ringlets.
