'Twas the night before surgery.

Tomorrow is Spencer's big kidney day. We've been waiting/dreading this day for about a month now. Kyle and I are VERY happy that they're finally fixing the blockage in his kidney, but aren't too excited about the aftermath. Spencer should just have to stay one night at the hospital if everything goes smoothly. However, the worst part about the surgery is the stent they have to put in that he'll have to keep in for 10 days. That is going to be a very LONG 10 days. I'm still not quite sure how I'm going to keep him calm and still for that long.

Today we got Spencer packed. His

are all ready to go...complete with "Cars" cars, his "Thomas" and "Percy" trains, and new books Grandma bought him.

Over the past few days I've been stealing toys out of the playroom and stashing them in my room so they'll seem newer next week when Spencer has to keep still and stay inside.

Of course we can't leave home without Spence's favorite blankie.

Kyle and I decided to get Spencer one new toy that would help keep him busy next week. We went to IKEA and bought the train tracks that are a steal compared to the regular "Thomas" train tracks. I wasn't going to give them to him until next week, but this morning Spencer found them at the bottom of the stash of toys in my room, brought them to me and with a HUGE grin said, "Look Mommy...tracks!" So of course I had to let him play with them for a little while this afternoon.

I had to keep Spence home from church today to avoid any chances of him getting sick from other kids. Any sign of a sickie = no surgery, and we definitely want to get this over with! So Spencer and I took a walk this morning, rode his bike in the driveway, watered the flowers, and played trains.

We're off at 10:30 tomorrow morning, wish us luck!
