Thanksgiving Rewind: Adventures with Grandma and Grandpa

I've turned into a blogging slacker! I was burning a DVD of pictures for a friend and flipping through my photos while I was waiting for it and realized I hadn't posted much from our fun visit from Grandma and Grandpa!

The weekend after Thanksgiving our hometown puts on an event called "Dickens of a Christmas." The store employees dress up like characters from Dickens stories and there are fun events for the family to attend.

For example,
And yes, that is real snow! (Well, homemade real snow.) It's the closest thing us Texans can come to! The sledding slide was a huge hit, Janelle went down it probably 6 times!

Even Daddy had to have a go on it...

...and Grandpa!
We know it's not Park City worthy, but thanks for indulging us Grandpa!

Spencer decided to hold out on the sledding for the...

...and he loved every second of it!!!
"Look at Daddy Spencer!"
A few months ago I noticed this store in downtown. Why is this such a special store? It's the name of our niece, Lulu! Isn't it cute?

Mommy's blogger baby...just one of those pictures Mommy is always taking. ;)

While Daddy, Grandpa, Grandma and Spencer were kindly holding our place in line to see Santa, I took Janelle over to the "Letters to Santa" tent.

"Dear Santa,
I would like a scooter and my little pony.
Love,
Janelle"
(I was rushing her so we had to forego any pleasantries. "Don't worry, Janelle, Santa knows you meant to write "How are you?" and "I'm trying to be good." and "Merry Christmas!")

And we made it to the big guy at last!
We were all convinced he was the real thing!

I talked Santa up to Spencer while we were in line. I kept saying over and over, "Okay Spencer, if you tell Santa that you want a Henry train for Christmas, he'll bring it to you on Christmas day to your house." I was sure he would at least walk up to him and tell him, but I guess he got stage fright at the last second because this is as close as he would get! Don't you love the worried look?
Right as we were leaving Spencer yelled, "I want a Henry twain, pwease!!!" Fortunately Santa heard him and said "Okay."

After a busy morning on the square, we decided to dine at our favorite pizza place...

Are you hungry yet?

What a fun day!

Wow! I've been missing out all these years... I'll mark my calendar for 2009. I loved Spencer's last minute desperate request! Janelle's picture with Santa is adorable.

Janelle is SOOO photogenic! Why didn't my kids get any of that? By the way, I love the pictures you took for your friend--next time you're in town, bring the camera--though everytime I even think about taking a family picture, one of the boys decides it's time to give himself a haircut:)
