The first two weeks of July Janelle and Spencer turned into little fishies. They both took swimming lessons through the city and they both did great! Janelle passed level 2 and is cleared to go to level 3, and Spencer, well, he's stuck in the "Little Swimmers" class until he's 5, but he is SO much more comfortable in the water than he was before his lessons, so I'm not complaining!
Spencer...and swimming buddy...kicking with STRAIGHT legs!

Spencer's class was hilarious to watch because it was five boys, who were all troublemakers. Poor teachers in charge of his class! I was totally impressed with how well they handled them though, and they were just high school kids! Spencer will go completely underwater now, blow bubbles through his mouth and nose, knows to swim with his "ice cream scoop" hands, and will swim unassisted with a life jacket on (a HUGE plus for me!!).
Janelle learning water safety techniques. I just love that whenever she jumps in the water she has froggy legs. :)

See?

I think swimming might be one of Janelle's "things." Lucky girl with her long legs! Not only does she love it, but she's actually really good at it. After her two-week session, she's totally got the backstroke down, is pretty good at freestyle, can butterfly kick and has some serious speed! They did a race one day just for fun and Janelle won! I couldn't help but be a little bit proud. :)
Spencer practicing kicking on his back.

The two cute swimmers after their last class.

Swimming is a very important life skill. I'm amazed at how many adults still don't know how to swim.
