Holy Picture Madness! Chapter 3: Park City

When our fabulous family reunion came to a sad close, we still weren't quite done vacationing. Kyle had to return to work, but the kids and I spent 3 fun days in Park City with Grandma and Grandpa. Fortunately Kyle's brother, Taylor and his wife Kayce and their two kids had the same idea, so we played a few more days together!

My kids first experience on the Alpine Slide with the Grandpas (the other Grandpa is Kayce's dad).
Janelle coming down the slide...she was actually the last one off, but we were proud of her for going by herself!
Grandpa Roger and Lulu. Little Lulu is a fearless fireball of energy! This kid is not afraid of anything! Needless to say, she was all smiles coming down the slide. :)
Grandpa and Spencer. I was a little worried that Spencer might freak out because heights kind of intimidate him, but no worries, he LOVED it!The funniest part of the whole Alpine Slide experience happened as we were all walking back to the car. Axel and Spencer started arguing about who won coming down the slide. It got more and more heated and before we knew it, there was a full on explosion of testosterone! I'm pretty sure they would have ended up in a fist fight if we hadn't intervened. It was hilarious! I've never seen Spencer get so heated up with anyone before! At least he feels comfortable enough around his cousin to express his true feelings, right?

Another day we went to the "This is the Place" Pioneer Village. The kids absolutely loved it. They have historic cabins, people dressed up as pioneers and fun activities for kids to do.

Spencer loved writing on the chalkboard in the schoolhouse. I should probably invest in one, I think it would keep him busy for awhile!

Some intense train riding.

Riding the little train with Aunt Kayce.

Horse riding. Janelle of course was in heaven.

Spencer again surprised me and rode all by himself. Last time we tried to get him on a horse he totally freaked out. My baby's growing up!

A few years ago my mother-in-law sent us this cute book about a dog that wanders around Park City and visits all the sites. We'd been reading the book all summer long getting excited about our trip. And one of the places the dog goes is to Dolly's Bookstore where two cats live. Janelle was adamant that we make a trip to Dolly's before we left, so we did! We found the cats and picked out new books for the airplane.

We also got to ride the Gondola. The kids thought it was pretty cool!

Axel, Taylor, Louisa (Lulu)

Janelle, Kayce, Kay
...speaking of Kayce....

So after a good week and a half, the kids were finally getting everyone's names down who they hadn't seen in awhile. One morning, I watched Taylor and Kayce's kids while they ran to the outlet mall for a little while. The kids were all playing upstairs when Spencer came down and asked me, "Where's the girl Uncle Taylor?"

It took me a second to understand what he was talking about when I finally realized, "You mean Aunt Kayce?" "Yeah, her." I couldn't stop laughing! We practiced her name after that quite a few times and I think by the time we left he had everyone's names down! Too funny!

Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for an extension on our vacation!! We had so much fun and wish we were still there!

Sounds like you guys had a wonderful trip. I would love to take the boys to Yellowstone sometime.
