Self Portrait

My friend Emily challenged all her blogging friends out there to post a self portrait today. You can go to her blog to check out everyone that participated. I thought I'd kill two birds with one stone (ewww, I just realized what I typed - who came up with that saying anyway, it's disgusting! I take it back, no bird killing), and respond to Emily's blog with my picture and Jenni's tag with five things you might not know about me. It's a little hard for me to come up with 5 because I did my "Confessions" post not too long ago, but here's a shot at it.

1. I am EXTREMELY competitive. Don't let the sweet smile fool you! It was worse when I was younger (just ask my sister, Rachel!), but I still have my moments when I have to win. I have since learned that I don't have to be the best at EVERYTHING and to channel my competitive side into self-encouragement. It was a hard life lesson to learn, but I'm better about it.

2. I DVR "7th Heaven" every day at 5:00pm. I never watched it growing up and discovered it about 6 months ago. I have to admit the acting is kind of lame, but I can totally relate to a lot of the plot lines. Kyle just loves it when it's on....yeah right.

3. When I was in 8th grade I took a theater arts class and participated in a "Mock Trial" where teams from different schools presented a prosecution and defense for a fake crime scene. My role was one of the main witnesses and I won "Best Witness" for my testimony. So if any of you EVER need someone to come and testify in court for you, I'm pretty believable.

4. I love to pop people's zits. I know it's disgusting, but I think it's fun. My kids are going to hate me when they're teenagers.

5. When my kids are out of the house I want to go back to school and major in accounting (I actually REALLY like math), and then become a photographer.

...Okay, now I'm on a roll, here's 5 more things...

6. I am an avid journal writer. Writing is my favorite outlet when I'm down. When I was little I was a major bookworm and I loved writing stories and journal entries. I think I have 13 journals filled. Since I've been married and had kids I've had a lot less time for reading and writing, but I still love it. The book I'm reading right now: Wicked by Gregory Maguire (it's a little weird, and a lot more political than I thought it would be, but it's intriguing.)

7. I hate broccoli. It's so good for you and I've tried it a million gazillion different ways and just can't seem to acquire a taste for it. Janelle and Kyle like it so I still make it, but if I never had to eat it again, that would be fine with me!

8. One of Kyle's and my favorite at-home date nights is eating pizza on our bed and watching "The Office." (You might have already known that!)

9. One day I am going to participate in a triathlon.

10. Kyle's and my last baby is going to be a baby girl adopted from China.

So there ya have it. 10 things you might have not known about me. Now I tag Sarah E., Ashley, Marcia, Shay, and Crystal (you only have to do 5). Can't wait to read 'em!

Hi. I am a friend of the McClellands and I happened upon your site. I have a header I made for my blog and I am not able to figure out how to post it up there. If you have a chance would you mind guiding me through the process? My email is SarahESaladini@aol.com is that is easier. Thanks! :)

You do have a sweet smile Laura but don't worry I have always seen right through it to your competitive side. I think maybe one competitive person can sense it in another. It is just one more thing that makes us alike.
I did not know you wanted to run a triathlon. We will have to make a goal and run it together and then we will both do really good because we will kill ourselves trying to outdo the other. Sound like a plan?
Well, thanks for doing it!I had fun reading them.

Confession time:

I too like my 7th Heaven (drives John nuts) and like to pop zits (also drives John nuts)! I get it from my mom, how about you?

Brianne- That is hilarious!!! I don't know where I get my zit-popping fascination. I have an aunt that likes to do it - I guess it's from her. Maybe John and Kyle should get together sometime so they can vent about their crazy wives. :)
