My Brother the Missionary

Here's my favorite brother in the whole world...also my ONLY brother in the whole world, AKA: Elder Platt for one more month in the Kahsiung, Taiwan Mission. Daniel is a good kid, and we share a special bond - he was born on my 5th birthday 10 minutes after I was. I was born at 8:26pm, he was born at 8:36pm on the same exact day, just 5 years apart. Coincidence? We like to think we were twins in another life. I'm so excited for him to come home in exactly one month! I even offered to hold off my birthday celebration so that he could join me. (And quite honestly, last year was weird only having one cake.) Here are a few pictures of my wild and crazy missionary brother (are those words allowed together?).

Picture 1: My brother has always enjoyed cooking desserts. He makes a mean chocolate milk shake and fabulous peanut butter cookies. So when I saw his attempts at a heart-shaped chocolate cake topped with oreos, I couldn't be anything but impressed.
Picture 2: It's hard to see, but here's Daniel wearing Sonic sunglasses (yes, the drive-in hamburger place) - one of his friends sent them to him. How's that for a care package?
Picture 3: Enjoying P-day - a hike along the beautiful coast of Taiwan. Don't ask me where in Taiwan, I couldn't tell ya.
Picture 4: Elder who?? I have to say, I'd never seen my brother as the Santa Claus type. But apparently the little Asian kids thought he was great at their Christmas party!

Now when I think of the word missionary, the words studious, humble, spiritual, and hard-working come to mind. And NOT that my brother hasn't been any of those things over the last two years, but receiving his pictures always make me remember that missionaries come with all sorts of personalities.

Apparently in Taiwan, it's VERY windy!

THERE'S my missionary brother! A cool kid with a heart of gold.

I still think of him as a 6 year old in love with Becca!

Wow, he's like, an adult! Looks like he has enjoyed his mission!

I can't believe it has almost been two years. I think that first picture of him looks like Kyle.
