After two incredibly LONG days in the car, the Mammen family pulled up to Grandma and Grandpa Mammen's house in Park City on Friday. Yes, it was a dismal drive, but it was oh, so worth it to see all our aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephew, brothers, sisters, dogs, cat, and of course Grandma and Grandpa. Park City is just beautiful - even in August! (And it's not even hot!) We've had a wonderful weekend filled with family pictures, a train ride on the Heber Creeper, a surprise birthday party for Kyle's little sister Hillary, a baby blessing, family meals, and outings to the park. I have even had some R&R time to catch up on Harry Potter (gotta love all the attention from Grandma and Grandpa!!!). Tomorrow morning I am going running with my iron-man sister-in-law, Jenni. Hopefully she won't kick my butt too badly! We're so happy that we're here and so grateful our kids endured 22 hours of driving so that we COULD be here!
I have come up with a new philosophy in regards to long car drives with young children. You know how they say that you can't spoil an infant? Well, I've decided that you can't spoil children on a road trip over 5 hours. Give them the DVD players, the Gameboys, the junk food, new toys...I don't care what they have as long as they give you the courtesy of an eventless trip!
We've already taken over 100 pictures, but I probably won't post any until we get back. Just thought you'd like to know why our blog has been neglected lately!

Sounds like a great vacation! That is awesome they were good the whole time....at this point I wouldn't even attempt it with one!

Glad you made it safely!! If we ever drive to Utah, we are getting a DVD player for the car for sure. Miss you!! Oh hey, I got a 1 week pass to Lifetime. We'll have to go when you get back.

We just finished a looong road trip to Las Vegas and Arizona and I know exactly what you are saying. Anything to keep them happy in the car! Can't wait to see pictures!
